Project overview
Broadsound Solar Farm is located on Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala People land in Central Queensland’s Renewable Energy Zone, approximately 150 km northwest of Rockhampton.
The 377 MWdc Solar Farm will comprise of 610,000 solar panels over an area of approximately 900 ha and the project will generate enough electricity to power 140,000 homes.
Central Queensland has abundant wind and solar resources which are ideal for renewable energy generation. This region will play an important role in meeting the Queensland government’s economic decarbonisation target of 80% renewable energy by 2035.
New entranceways will be constructed on Marlborough Sarina Road and there will be access tracks created inside the project area for construction and operational activities.
The project will be grid connected at Powerlink’s Broadsound Substation. A temporary construction camp for around 400 workers will be installed and utilised during construction. It will be decommissioned at the completion of works.
