The annual awards recognise the outstanding contribution businesses and individuals are making towards clean energy in Australia.
The award recognises the First Nations engagement undertaken on the Girgarre Solar Farm project. Beon established a First Nations employment program in partnership with Yorta Yorta organisation, Rumbalara. Through this partnership, 31 Yorta Yorta men and women were employed on the project.
Beon has been named a finalist at the Clean Energy Council Awards three times previously, the award is their first win.
Throughout the construction of the project, Beon also partnered with First Nations businesses: First Nations Traffic Management and Yurringa.
“The award is a credit to the entire business and the way we have embedded meaningful community engagement, particularly First Nations engagement, into our delivery model.
Our clients are wanting to see more First Nations engagement programs across their projects. We will continue to explore how we can improve in this area and continue to make a positive impact on the communities where we work.
We will do this because it is part of our culture. It’s not only the right thing to do and good for communities, but also because it is good for business.”
Kieren Lewis, General Manager, Beon
Congratulations to the entire Girgarre project team who delivered this successful program.
