The Project

Commissioned in 2013, the Elaine Terminal Station is situated 4km north of the township of Elaine in regional Victoria and 23km north-east of the Mt Mercer wind farm.

The wind farm consists of 64 REpower MM92 wind turbines, giving a total installed capacity of 131 MW. It generates approximately 395,000 MWh of electricity each year and result in a reduction of approximately 510,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

A 132 kilovolt line connects the wind farm to the national electricity grid, and the terminal station is responsible for increasing the voltage from 132kV to 220kV, allowing the electricity to be distributed nationally.

As part of the project, 9 structural steel tower gantries were constructed, comprising 6 220kV towers and 3 132kV towers.

The project was delivered on time, in 14 months and on budget.
