Large-scale solar farm construction supports regional development

August 15, 2017

Beon Energy Solutions (Beon) is proud to support regional jobs and development in the North West of Queensland with the construction of the 20MW Hughenden solar farm.

Site works are well underway and Beon will have installed close to 60,000 solar panels by the time the grid-scale solar farm is completed in the latter half of 2017.

At approximately four times the size of the MCG, the solar farm’s construction will generate job opportunities during both the construction and operating phases.

Beon’s General Manager, Glen Thomson, said the solar farm is a sign of confidence in both renewable energy and in Queensland’s important role in the shift towards greener generation.

“Beon is proud to partner with BayWA and Lighthouse on the construction of the Hughenden solar farm.

“The solar farm demonstrates that utility scale renewables play a significant role in supporting regional development while helping governments meet their renewable energy targets.

“Not only will the site deliver 20MW of utility-scale solar capacity into the electricity grid it will also generate regional investment and jobs as well as continue to demonstrate confidence in the growing renewables market,” Glen said.
